International Guest Lecturer: Smar City
The Faculty of Economics and Business, State University of Malang (FEB UM), held an international guest lecture on Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at 15.00 - 17.00 WIB. The activity was carried out online by presenting a speaker from Mara University of Technology Malaysia, Dr. Lim Seng Boon. This activity involves study programs in FEB UM; Study Programs S1 Development Economics, S2 Economics, S1 Economic Education, S2 / S3 Economic Education, S1 / S2 / S3 Management, S1 Accounting, S1 Accounting Education, S2 Accounting, S1 Commerce Education and S1 Office Administration Education. Activity participants included lecturers and students from FEB UM and from the University of Technology Mara Malaysia.

The activity was opened by the Dean of FEB UM Prof.Dr.Imam Mukhlis, SE, MSi representing the Dean of FEB UM. In his remarks, the Deputy Dean of FEB UM emphasized the importance of conducting international collaborations in order to increase international recognition. This activity is important in order to support the internationalization program of study programs at FB UM with various academic and research activities. This activity is also in the context of achieving SDGs indicator 9, namely; industry, innovation and infrastructure. The application of smart city is an effort in the context of development innovation, especially in digital infrastructure in regional development.

In his presentation, Dr. Lim Senf Boon emphasized that the smart city theme is an interesting topic in regional economic development that is integrated with the application of technology in public services. There are concepts and definitions of smart cities in today's development in various countries around the world. Through the application of smart cities, the quality of life of the community can be achieved.
