Malang — Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Negeri Malang, holds International Guest Lecture titled “Navigating the Asian Job Market in Technopreneurship Era: Strategies FOR Innovation Growth and Sustainability.” This activity was held on Friday (5/8/2026) in the A20 Building Hall, 9th Floor, UM. This activity serves as a platform to strengthen students' global perspective regarding the dynamics of the Asian labor market in the era technopreneurship which is growing rapidly. This guest lecture featured three international speakers from Malaysia, namely Dr. Fauzan from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, Prof. Dr. Mohd Hizam bin Hanafiah from Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, and Dr. Isma Addi Bin Jumbri from Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka. The three of them shared perspectives on strategies for facing the challenges of the Asian job market, technology-based business innovation, and the importance of sustainability in development technopreneurship.
In his presentation, Prof. Dr. Mohd Hizam bin Hanafah highlighted the increasingly competitive job market in ASEAN. Students are deemed to need high adaptability to survive amidst rapid industrial changes. He emphasized that success in the working world is not only determined by academic achievement, but also the ability to remain relevant to industry needs.
“Stability is decreasing, but at the same time opportunity is increasing. You are not the smartest or the one with the best CGPA, but how fast you adapt and how you stay relevant with the industries are the most important things,” he stated.
Dr. Isma Addi Bin Jumbri in his presentation emphasized the importance of the young generation's readiness to face an increasingly competitive environment in the era. According to him, college students need to utilize their study period as a self-development process before entering the world of work and business.
“For the first strategy for any business, we talk about highly competitive environments. Right now, you are students, and this is a process to make you more mature before you graduate. So, you need to improve yourself for the technopreneers definitely they need to change,” he stated.
Meanwhile, Dr. Fauzan regarding digital entrepreneurship and innovation, emphasizing that current technology not only functions as a supporting tool, but also serves as the main foundation in building business and innovation in the digital era. “In the digital era, the companies that win are not the biggest ones, but the ones that learn, adapt, and innovate the fastest,” he stated. International Guest Lecture This is expected to broaden students' horizons, strengthen international academic networks, and encourage the emergence of a young generation that is adaptive, innovative, and ready to compete in the era and digital transformation. In addition, this activity is also in alignment with the implementation of (SDGs), specifically goal number 4 on P through improving the quality of higher education and strengthening students' global perspectives.
