YOUTH ENTREPRENEURSHIP SYMPOSIUM (YES) 2017 is an annual symposium organized by Nebo Singapore (the largest youth organization under the Ministry of Youth and Culture in Singapore) that aims to gather young entrepreneurs from various fields. In its tenth year, YES with the theme 'Entrepreneurship as a Career' is back in the form of 4 days of interactive and comprehensive symposiums, competitions, and events. business canvas modelmentoring program, and open opportunities for participants to get contacts from various companies. In this program, Nebo collaborates with Studec International to select 70 Indonesian delegates who have been selected from 400 applicants throughout Indonesia to compete with 280 delegates who have been selected by Nebo Singapore. In addition, YES 2017 was attended by 30 keynote speakers and 50 delegates. Start-Up CEOs across ASEAN who mentor participants. YES takes place from June 13 to June 16 at National University of Singapore.
Our team presentation was represented by me. Cattetiana Dhevi and one of my colleagues, relying on the Indonesian values of a smiling face and also 'unggah-ungguh' in front of the judges, we made presentations with confidence and tried to master the situation. The presentation was done in the form of pitchingWe had to convince the jury by presenting a detailed and complete explanation in a very short time, which was three minutes, of course in English. Armed with a TOEFL ITP score of 533 and the motto 'sing penting yakin', I said Bismillah before starting the presentation.
Traveling to Singapore, to compete was more than enough and I never imagined the outcome. When the finalists were announced, our team made it into the top 6 where only two teams from Indonesia qualified for the final round. After that we had to present our business canvas model in front of all the participants as well as the final judges who were CEOs and investors. When the announcement was made, we were so shocked and emotional, because our team became FIRST PLACE in Youth Entrepreneurship Symposium 2017. This was also very surprising to the organizers because in the last 4 years this is the first time Indonesia won YES 2017. There are 3 main winners and the other two are from Singapore. The first winner received a prize of 2000 SGD, an award certificate, entrepreneurship books, software, and vouchers. There are also other awards for the 10th consolation team, the best innovative idea, the best co-op team, the best education team and others.
